Child Development Center

Welcome to Saint Albert the Great Child Development Center

Established in 1997

We are thrilled to welcome you to our family. We know you have many options in caring for your children and are honored to have chosen Saint Albert's as your provider. If you have yet to do so, we encourage you to tour our center before enrolling.

Our primary goal is to provide your child with a warm and safe environment that mirrors the comfort of home. We feel children learn best when they discover things for themselves. We don't teach. Instead, we provide opportunities for discovery.

Our well-balanced program provides your child opportunities in pre-math, science, art, music, language, creative expression, dramatic play, and large and small motor skills. Socialization techniques will play an essential role in your child's day. We promise to provide your child with a safe and supportive environment to develop self-confidence, self-esteem, and a positive self-image.

Our program has been designed to meet the regulations of Washoe County Social Services, Reno Fire Department & Washoe County Health Department.

 Our Mission

Our mission is to take advantage of the teachable moments that happen every day by fostering the intellectual, creative, social, emotional, and physical growth and development of our students and to inspire a lifelong commitment to learning.

A caring, cooperative school environment promotes cultural values and supports positive relationships and respectful interaction. We will provide an environment that allows children to learn by doing — moving from concrete, hands-on experiences to more abstract concept development.

We prioritize providing a healthy balance of child-directed and teacher-guided activities and time for children to work individually and in small and large groups.

A stable, safe, healthy, comfortable, and culturally relevant environment is crucial to a child's growth. A play-based approach provides a child-centered curriculum directed by teachers in which children are encouraged to construct their knowledge.

Our program reflects the needs and goals of children and families.

We look forward to working closely with families, which will provide an integrated, comprehensive approach to learning.

Our Philosophy

Early childhood is a time of curiosity, a time for play, and a time of rapid development. Differentiated instruction should adapt content, products, and processes to meet all children's diverse learning needs and preferences.

Children grow and learn as they play. Play-based instruction enables young learners to have fun and encourages interactive and cooperative learning, passion for discovery, and a foundation for later educational experiences.

The program's philosophy is based on the NAEYC's guidelines on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning theories. We believe every child can learn and grow with proper care and instruction. Age and stage, individual differences in learning style, and social and cultural differences are always considered. The best practice is to adapt the materials and activities to meet the varied needs of all children.

Every child is unique and deserving of an early childhood education that facilitates academic, social, and developmental growth through a variety of enjoyable experiences.
